Howdy! I’m Dave. I’m from a small town in Washington State, currently based in Louisville, KY.

Let’s be honest, wedding photography has exploded in recent years and while there’s some great work being made, I can’t help but wonder if it could be more simple. In the spirit of being true to myself, I can’t advertise with quotes like, “At ________ photography, we aim to tell the story of your special day with pictures” or “I am an award-winning photographer and that’s what I’ll bring to the table with pictures of your wedding, AWARDS!” The story of how I got into photography isn’t inspiring either. I grew up next to a skatepark in a rural community in the Pacific Northwest and there wasn’t much to do. I couldn’t skate so I drifted towards music and started photographing my friends skating and playing in bands with a cheap point-and-shoot 35mm for the photography classes my high school offered.

Fast forward 18 years, I’ve been fortunate to do some cool things with photography throughout the editorial, commercial (some of that can be seen at davekasnic.com), and wedding industries that have taken me all over America and even abroad. My aim is to treat all photographic pursuits similarly, whether on set for a commercial production, on assignment for a magazine cover story, or photographing a wedding. While certain situations call for different approaches, at the end of the day, it’s all just photography.
